The delegation told Gafoor that the Sena was not responsible for the incident. “It happened because the hotel administration sacked 21 employees and it was an impromptu reaction. The hotel administration was also at fault, as it did not allow the party delegation to talk with the management,” said a Sena leader, who had been part of the delegation.

Gafoor has reportedly asked Joint Commissioner of Police K.L. Prasad to probe the matter.

Raut was arrested and released on January 28 in the case. “Twenty-one workers, who tried to form a Sena union, were given pink slips citing recession. The real reason was the management did not want a Sena union,” Raut had told Hindustan Times.
