Sensex up 171 pts in early trade

The NSE index Nifty also gains 51.05 points to 3364.15. The rise is due to funds buying in heavy-weighted stocks.

The stock market continued its upward momentum for the sixth straight session on Wednesday with the benchmark Sensex rising by over 171 points in early trading on funds buying in heavy-weighted stocks.

The BSE 30-share index, which had gained nearly 121 points on Monday, shot up by 171.76 points at 11,484.75 in the first five minutes of trading.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty gained 51.05 points at 3364.15.

Stock brokers said the strength domestic stock markets was on the back global firmness in stocks, triggered massive buying by funds and retail investors.

All the BSE-30 share and NSE-50 shares were in positive zone with sizable gains.
