SGPC seeks ban on activities of Dera Chief

Condemning the killing of a Sikh protester allegedly by the bodyguards of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at Mulund in Mumbai, the SGPC has demands a ban on alleged anti-Sikh activities of the Dera chief.

Condemning the killing of a Sikh protester allegedly by the bodyguards of Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh at Mulund in Mumbai, the SGPC has demanded a ban on alleged anti-Sikh activities of the Dera chief.

In a resolution passed during a meeting of its executive committee held at Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday, SGPC demanded registration of criminal case against the sect chief in connection with the Mulund incident and also sealing of his dera.

Giving details about the proceedings of the meeting SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said SGPC would hold functions regarding Gurta Gaddi Divas at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib (Anandpur Sahib), Gurduwara Ber Sahib (Sultanpur Lodhi) and Gurdwara Ramsar Sahib (Amritsar) adding that main function would be held at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib on October 20.

He also welcomed the positive view of the centre for providing corridor to devotees for visiting Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan and thanked Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for his efforts in this regard.

He also said that SGPC would construct a new building of Gurudwara and Sarai in place of Gurudwara relating to Guru Nanak Dev at Ujjain as its managing committee had handed over the management of the shrine to SGPC.
