Addressing a public meeting while campaigning for Congress-NCP-RPI joint candidate Laxmanrao Tayde at Murtizapur, near here, Shinde also criticised BJP for betraying its election manifesto in 1998 and 1999 for seeking power at the Centre.
Three major things- declaring the country as Hindu rashtra, construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya and abrogation of article 370 were incorporated in BJP's manifesto but in it gave up these three things to form the NDA government, Shinde said.
Congress along with other opposition parties had foiled Vajpayee government's attempt to amend the Indian Constitution.
Meanwhile, Raja Motiram Sambharkar, who had filed nominations as an independent candidate from Akola, today extended support to Tayde in Shinde's presence while former district chief of Shiv Sena Shrikrishan Dhore joined Congress.
