The Shiv Sainiks took out the rally from the Mint House in the Nadesar area and staged the demonstration at the district headquarters.

Besides “poor law and order”, the issues they raised were contaminated water supply, frequent power cuts, alleged exploitation of traders in the name of beautification of the city, encroachment on ponds, alleged exploitation of devotees at the entrance of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, donation for admission to schools and colleges and traffic bottlenecks.

Shiv Sena leader in charge of the party’s Uttar Pradesh affairs Gulab Dubey addressed the demonstrators. He said the common man was facing hardship due to the district administration’s apathetic attitude towards civic amenities. He alleged that the State Government had failed on all fronts.

Shiv Sena divisional president Ajay Chaubey warned the district administration the party would launch a massive agitation in case its demands were not fulfilled with immediate effect. Chaubey alleged that devotees were being exploited in the name of security at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. He added the district administration was exploiting traders in the name of beautification in the city.

He said though people were being made to donate to various schools, the administration had taken no action in this regard. The Shiv Sainiks also forwarded a nine-point charter of demands to the district magistrate.

Varun Singh, Gulab Sonekar, Bachanu Vishwakarma, Sunita Devi and Chandrakala Devi were among those who addressed the dharna.
