BHOPAL MUNICIPAL Corporation (BMC) in association with the Bhopal District Rifle Club (BDRC) will organise the Mayor’s Trophy Shooting Competition at 25th Battalion Bhadbhada Road Shooting Range on February 18.
Talking to mediapersons, Mayor Sunil Sood said the objective of the shooting competition was to promote interest in shooting among citizens. “Success of the last year’s competition proved that there is immense potential talent in shooting in Bhopal,” he said. The competition will be organised for men, women and junior section in the open-sight and telescopic categories. The participants will aim the target with the .22-bore rifle. Rifles will be provided by BDRC.
Those who have personal rifles of .22-bore may participate with their weapons. Ten cartridges will be provided in every round.
The junior-level competitions will be organised for shooters under 16 years age category. The registration for the competition will start from 9 am.
According to BDRC director Aruneshwar Singhdeo, the City has shown huge interest in shooting. “Shooting has come up as one of the favourite sports in the City,” said Singhdeo. BDRC patron A V Singh, organising committee president Mohammed Shamim, coordinator Mahira Salamuddin and others were also present.
