A large number of local residents came out on the streets and blocked National Highway-2 (Mathura Road) to protest the murder.

Police said the accused had called Bhati to Sector 2 area of Ballabgarh around 4.30pm on Saturday. They apparently opened fire on the property dealer as soon as he reached, killing him on the spot.

The killers who had come in a Scorpio SUV fled the spot after committing the crime. Senior police officers, including DCP Ballabgarh Abishekh Garg later rushed to the spot and Bhati was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.

As the news of the killing spread in the area, a large number of people from surrounding areas rushed to the spot and staged a protest. Among those who protested and disrupted traffic were the victim’s family members and neighbours.

The protesters blocked NH-2 near Ajrondha chowk, choking traffic movement on both sides of the road for some time.“The incident is the fallout of some old enmity between two groups from Karauli village”, Ballabgarh DCP Abishekh Garg said. He added that the police had identified the accused but none of them had been arrested so far.The victim’s brother also gave a list of names to the police whom he considered to be suspects.

The police now is investigating their role.
