The 250-kilometer area keeps the humming bird warm and safe in the green vegetation.

The region is also inhabited by the smallest bat of the world and one of the well-known smallest amphibions along with a group of local and regional endemics.

The most important song birds of the archipelago also nest in the place that shelter 100 flying species from the Antilles nation and other parts of the world.

In one of its hills we find Soroas Orchid Garden (the biggest in the Caribbean) with 700 varieties of flora.

With almost a hundred of archeological places, many of them linked to the independence wars, Sierra del Rosario becomes a chapter in the local history.

This place is also characterised by the development of a program of soci-economic and cultural development based on turism.

Tweenty years of research and monitoring by specialists from the ecological station in this territory contributed to preserve the wealth, it store up.

One of its main achievements is the recovery of the tropical forests and the extention of environmental education to remote villages in the place.
