The incident occured on Wedneday night at Bharthu village on the outskirts of Kanpur city.

The family members were sleeping when the two walls suddenly caved in. The villagers pulled them out and rushed them to the hospital.

Daily wage labourer Chutu Kori escaped with minor injuries but all his six children, who were aged from two years to 14 years, were buried under the wall's rubble.

"We all slept early. Suddenly I heard a sound of thud and found myself buried under mud and thatched roof," said Kori.

Dr Raghvendra Singh at Roora community health centre said the children apparently died due to suffocation.
