According to a senior GDA official, the authority has planned about six helipads from where helicopter operations will be initiated to the nearby cities and tourist destinations. According to him, a meeting of senior officials was held on Friday and a team of civil aviation officials conducted site inspections in Ghaziabad.

“The team of officials went on for a site inspection from where we had proposed to start operations. The meeting and inspection were very positive as we are keen that such operations initiate from our city after required clearances,” GDA vice-chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav told Hindustan Times.

The site inspection by the officials was undertaken at the land owned by the UP irrigation department near river Hindon area, adjacent to Pratap Vihar. This site is expected to become the spot for operations, once the project is cleared and final decision is arrived at.

The authority officials said that an alternative site would also be proposed, in case the existing site is not found satisfactory.

If the plan goes through, a number of residents and corporate clients from Ghaziabad, Noida and even Delhi would be benefitted with the start of proposed operations.
