Police recovered a .9 mm pistol from them. The accused were trying to sell the pistol to their contact in Noida. The leader of the gang Shera Kirar was killed in an encounter with police almost a week back. Kirar was also allegedly behind murder of a petrol pump owner in Morena.

Gwalior senior superintendent of police (SSP) Santosh Singh said the police were in position to establish sequence of crimes committed by the gang members. Singh said the pistol that the accused were trying to sell had been looted from constable Veekesh Gurjar on November 12 after committing his murder.

Three members of the gang including Vickky Balmik, Sonu and Shera Kirar have been killed in the past in police encounters, while three are still absconding. The gang was involved in over a dozen crimes committed in Gwalior and Morena districts from September.

Police have also identified those harbouring the accused and conducting raids at their hideouts in Gwalior and Morena besides other locations in Rajasthan, UP and Delhi. Police are on lookout for the absconding members of the gang, Singh said.
