The father, identified as Bholanath Dhami, was later arrested from near his village. The police also recovered the axe. A case (43/14) has been registered under section 302 of IPC in this connection.

According to information, the 21-year old victim, identified as Mukul Dhami, had cleared the written test and was called for the physical test. He asked for R2,000 from his father but the latter said that he should manage with 700. This led to heated arguments between the father and son twice on Monday.

Around 3 am on Tuesday, Bholanath woke up and attacked his son with the axe. The police reached the spot early in the morning and arrested the accused.

During interrogation, Bholanath said that he was fed up poverty and wanted to ‘sacrifice’ the life of his entire family members including his wife, 3 sons and a daughter on Ramnavmi. However, other members of the family were saved as his wife started shouting soon after Mukul was attacked.
