Sonia blames NDA for lack of progress on KBK
Sonia Gandhi held the NDA govt responsible for lack of progress in the KBK project in Orissa launched by the previous government.
The AICC chief, Sonia Gandhi, today held the NDA government responsible for lack of progress in the KBK project in southern and western Orissa launched by the previous Congress government.
"You voted for the NDA at the Centre and the BJD-BJP combine in the state last time, but it has not augured well for the country and state. It is time to vote for the Congress," she told an election meeting here.
Addressing the second meeting in her whistle-stop campaign in Orissa, Gandhi said that the KBK project was launched for the rapid progress of the underdeveloped Koraput-Balangir-Kalahandi region.
"It is because the BJP-led government at the Centre is not pursuing it with sincerity," she claimed.
While prices had soared during the last five years badly affecting the poor and women, the NDA government had no plans for the huge army of unemployed youths. The farmers were also hit hard under the present disposition, both at the Centre and state, she alleged.
Gandhi said that she had visited the Nuapada area with her late husband Rajiv Gandhi when he was the prime minister. "I have a soft-corner for this region," she said while appealing to the people to vote in favour of the Congress.
She addressed another well-attended rally at Jeypore before flying here.
