Sonia Gandhi meets ailing Dilip Kumar

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday called on thespian Dilip Kumar, who is recuperating after suffering from malaria, at Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday called on thespian Dilip Kumar, who is recuperating after suffering from malaria, at Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra.

Gandhi, who was in the city to inaugurate the country's first sea route Bandra-Worli Sea Link, was with the legendary actor for about 15 minutes, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan told PTI.

Apart from Chavan, Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad was also present at the hospital.

Chavan said Gandhi inquired about Dilip Kumar's health with the actor's wife Saira Banu and also spoke to him. He appeared cheerful.

Gandhi visited Dilip Kumar after inaugurating the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, located near to the hospital.

The 87-year-old actor was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Lilavati Hospital on Sunday and was diagnosed as suffering from malaria.
