Sonia to participate in regional Cong conference

The party is gearing up for the conference and tentatively fixed in the second or third week of September.

Tamil Nadu Congress was awaiting the confirmation of dates of AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, to hold regional party conference at Gobichettipalayam next month, Union minister of state for textiles, EVKS Elangovan said on Saturday.

The party was gearing up for the conference and tentatively fixed in the second or third week of September. However, Sonia who has agreed to participate has to confirm the dates, Elangovan said.

The conference is being held, as part of the campaign for the coming civic polls and enthuse party workers.

On extending the technological upgradation fund scheme for textile industry, Elangovan said that the ministry had already recommended to the Finance Ministry, which has to take a final decision.
