He said while on the one hand, the State Government was determined to put illegal possession of nazool land under the scanner, officials were promoting encroachment on nazool land and corruption.

Talking to mediapersons, Yadav said the State Government had suspended three power corporation officials for their involvement in power theft. Similar action could be taken against district officials involved in selling urban ceiling land to the mafia. He said a nexus between industrialists, the mafia and some officials was sullying the image of the State Government.

Expressing concern over encroachment on a natural lake at Sumer Sagar, he said irregularities in land records should be checked. Yadav said around four hectare land belonging to Sumer Sagar was nazool land and it is registered in the land records as pond. Therefore, the sale of this land was illegal.

Demanding cancellation of registration of land, Yadav said the apathetic attitude of district administration in the matter had given rise to suspicion about the role of officials. He handed over a memorandum to the divisional commissioner and demanded to stop the dumping of soil.

RJD protest
ACTIVISTS OF the Rashtriya Janata Dal took out procession and staged a dharna at the district magistrate’s office against atrocities being committed on RJD activists by Gorakhnath police. They handed over a four-point memorandum to be forwarded to the State Governor. They demanded that officials take the initiative to ensure justice to Phool Badan.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Purvanchal Yadav Mahasabha coordinator Rajkumar Yadav said Phoolbadan Yadav was a labourer and resident of Pachpedwa village.

The Gorakhnath police, along with local people, beat up Phool Badan and looted articles from his house. RJD leader Pradeep Kumar Rao and district president Sunil Kumar Dubey accused police officials of being in league with the mafia.

Training camp
OM GRAM Vikas Sewa Ashram manager Dr Om Mishra said the Entrepreneur Development Institute would organise a month-long training camp for entrepreneurs. Talking to mediapersons, he said 30 entrepreneurs would be trained in food processing in the camp which would begin on January 9.
