Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh petitioned the EC that the MNS be de-recognised and disqualified from contesting polls in future as its leader "does not believe in Indian constitution".

Singh filed the petition through his lawyer Pradeep Rai.

Thackeray kicked up a row last week when he attacked north Indians and particularly Amitabh Bachchan. The remarks led to a confrontation between MNS and SP workers in Mumbai and some other areas.
