In an effort to manage safe and smooth flow of traffic and minimise the incidents of road accidents, the traffic police department is all set to take measures and equip itself with latest device.

"The department has decided to install speed radars on the highways, so as to check the over-speeding vehicle drivers", said CO (Traffic) Arvind Mishra.
The speed radar will be connected with printer, where over-speed of the vehicle as well as the vehicle number will be easily detected by the traffic police cop who will be deployed on highways. With this, it would be easy for the cops to chase and challan the vehicle drivers who are over speeding, added Mishra.
"Instrument has already been provided to the department by Director/IG Traffic, and it will be made operational within few weeks", said Mishra.
Besides, we have also decided to deploy traffic constables wearing fluorescent jackets during night time at main crossings including Kanpur Road-Thornhill Road crossing, Maharana Pratap crossing, GT Road-Jawaharlal Nehru Road crossing and Pani Ki Tanki crossing in city. These constables will be holding bar torch that will emit red light. The concept of using fluorescent jacket and bar torch is that these two things will emit light during night and it will be easier for the road users to follow the signals and directions of the traffic cop, said he.
Not only this, the department will soon undertaken the work, where a reflector will be fitted on the front of the trucks, to help check accidents taking place every now and then.
"By taking nominal charges from the truck owners we will be fitting reflectors on the front portion of the trucks. This measure will certainly help in avoiding accidents", claimed CO (Traffic).
Apart from this, Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) with the support of traffic police department has taken a move for beautification and maintenance of traffic posts on various crossings of the city.
"In this regard, ADA has given contract to private parties Mind Watch Agency and Jeevan Jyoti Hospital for maintenance of traffic posts on various crossings including CMP Degree College crossing, Johnstonganj crossing, Public Service Commission crossing, High Court crossing on Polo Ground side and Fort Road crossing ", said Mishra.
