In the Lucknow city final round, the participants were given six topics and they had to write a story on any one of them. The topics were categorised into three genres—mystery, thriller and fantasy.

The stories were judged on the basis of relevance of the topic, originality of idea, style and grammar, storyline and the reader impact.
