An FIR was lodged against the employee.

The employee, who is absconding, has been placed under suspension by an order of vice- chancellor Ashok Kumar Kalia. An inquiry committee has been set up by the varsity to look into the matter and find out whether the recovered documents were original or fake.

It may be noted that such blank marksheets and certificates of the varsity had been recovered by members of the Proctorial Board amid bundles of old newspapers and stationery from the campus in October last.

According to reports, chief proctor Kedar Nath Tripathi recently got information that an employee of the varsity was engaged in illegal sale of blank marksheets and certificates. The Proctorial Board started keeping watch on the activities of the employee. It conducted the raid after the V-C’s approval.

The family members of the employee expressed their resentment over the raid as the employee himself was not present in the house. But, the authorities entered the house forcibly for the search operation.

During the process, they recovered marksheets and certificates in a fodder bag. The documents seemed to be original with serial numbers of the varsity, according to officials. Some certificates belonging to the Sikkim Institute of Higher Jigma Studies, a college affiliated with the SSU, were also found.

The chief proctor said the documents seemed to be original, but an inquiry committee had been also set up by the varsity.

If the documents with the monogram of the SSU were published in a private printing press, police would be urged to trace out the press and initiate action against its owner, the chief proctor said.
