The state exchequer will have to spend around Rs1 crore for Friday’s swearing-in ceremony. The decision of moving the ceremony to Wankhede Stadium has put the financial burden on the state coffer.

According to the officials from the general administration department, they would have spent around Rs25 lakh if the ceremony were to be held at the Raj Bhavan.
“Though the Mumbai Cricket Association [MCA] has waived off the rents, there is still the cost of putting up the stage, the seating arrangements and other things. The public works department is expected to submit the bills a few weeks after the swearing-in,” an official said.
Apart from the official expenditure borne by the government, the BJP will have to bear the burden of the additional facilities, including the LED screens, snacks for dignitaries and others arrangements for the event.
Though the BJP functionaries are tight-lipped about the expenditure, sources in the party claimed that it will be only in lakhs.
