State govt suppressing voice of Left parties: CPI-ML

Talking to mediapersons, Singh said a sense of insecurity had gripped the minority community and demanded confidence-building exercise in the society.
Launching his crusade against the Samajwadi Party, state secretary of Communist Party (ML) Akhilendra Pratap Singh said the State government was suppressing the voice of Communist Party workers instead of resolving the problems faced by the common people. Singh said the party had decided to launch 50-hour hunger strike from October 9 to 11 at Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow in protest against the atrocities being committed by the State government.
Singh quoted various incidents and said in Pilibhit party members had started a campaign for grain cards for those living below poverty line. In retaliation, the State government implicated more than hundred activists in fake cases.
Similarly, agitating CPI(ML) workers were caned in Sitapur and Chandauli districts.
Singh demanded that the State government should provide diesel on subsided rate to farmers. He asked the government to pay attention to the plight of farmers, especially after starvation deaths in eastern UP. He criticised the government for helping capitalist forces, especially in case of land acquisition in Dadri.
Responding to a question, he said CPI(ML) would intensify agitation against the formation of special economic zones in the country as it would reduce the agriculture land the special zones would be converted into colonies for capitalist forces.
Singh claimed people in the State wanted change and predicted that BSP president Mayawati would have no role in the change of power.
Terming Mukti Sangram Yatra as a march for strong political option against the SP and BSP in UP, he said Communist Party (ML) had extended support to Dadri March and would try to unite all Left parties at a single platform.
