Villagers on Tuesday blocked a section of the road for two hours near Chandawali village, where the township is to come up. They are demanding higher compensation for their land.

The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation acquired 1,832 acres of land from five villages. Farmers said the government forcibly took the land at the rate of Rs 24 lakh per acre.

"Many villagers visited Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi on Monday to request him to take up our case. He wasn't there, so we submitted our charter of demands to his PA," said farmer leader Ram Singh Netaji.
