However, the UHM Hospital staff seem to be helpless as there is no other way to check the entry of these street dogs. The hospital staff have been blaming the CMO’s office for this problem. According to them, due to the CMO’s office, the main entrance of the hospital remains open even after the visiting hours.
Besides, there is no other option to enforce check on the entry of dogs. To add to it, there are several other passage points for these animals.
According to a doctor at the UHM Hospital, it is difficult to control them particularly during mating season. They not only defy the shooing tactics of the hospital staff but also turn violent. There were a number of instances when they attacked the staff.
Such is the terror that no one dares to shoo them away. Senior administrative officials said though the KMC was reported about the problem umpteen times, no action was taken till date. CMS Dr Ishwar Sharan said a letter was written to the Nagar Swastha Adhikari about a week ago detailing him about the dog menace at the UHM Hospital.
At the Hallet Hospital and the KPM Hospital, the situation is no more different. At Hallet Hospital, street dogs could be seen strolling especially at the medicine, ophthalmology wards and in the gallery in front of the CMS ‘s office. Though, a guard has been posted there to check the entry of dogs, the dogs have been outwitting him on numerous occasions. So is the case at KPM Hospital.
