They would take out a procession and stage dharna to express their anger over headless persuasion of new economic policies and new pension schemes.
Divisional president of Gorakhpur Divisional Insurance Employees Union VP Rai said that employees under AIIEA had given a complete strike call to show the employees’ strength and to mount pressure on government to review new economic policies.
He recalled that Congress had promised to pave the way for employment for unemployed youth but no concrete steps had been taken so far in this direction.
The recruitment of the employees could not be started and government has to introduced new pension scheme, which has further aggravated the problems.
Members of Municipal Corporation Coordination Committee have also extended their support to the strike and secretary of the committee Ravindra Kunwar said that municipal corporation employees would abstain from their routine work and organised a meeting at Laxmibai Park.
Employees’ Union leader Balram Upadhyaya, Navind Nethanial, Devendra Tripathi and others said that the government department were emphasising out sourcing and surrendering posts in their department.
The employees’ unions of other departments have also extended their support to the strike.
