Hundreds of students led by former district vice president of students union Dr Mahendra Rai reached AD building and staged a dharna. They threatened to start a relay hunger strike if their demands were not conceded.

Succumbing to the pressure of the students’ union, vice chancellor Prof Arun Kumar reached the spot and made the announcement that the date for start of examination of Law had been extended. Now the examination would start from July 27 instead of July 17, he said.

Talking to mediapersons, Rai alleged the syllabus of Law students had not been completed due to apathetic attitude of the teachers’ community but the dean, Faculty of Law, was adamant to start the examination. He demanded that till completing the course the examination should not be started. University authorities accepted the demands of the students’ leaders and extended the date by 10 days.
