In all the courses there were 770 students and out of which all the 629 who appeared at the campus interview received placement while remaining 141 did not turn up for campus interview for personal reasons.

All the selected students would join the companies from June 1 after completing the final examination by May 15.

Chairman students placement Dr Vinod Tare told HT that there were 285 students of B Tech courses out of which 261 students who appeared at the campus interviews were selected while remaining students either opted for higher studies or preferred to join their family business or the companies of their choice instead of facing campus interview.

Similarly, out of forty-four students of dual degree course 36 appeared at the interviews and got good placement, he added

Dr Tare said that the percentage of students opting for core industries has considerably been higher. Over 50 per cent students were placed in the core industries. Next choice of the students has been for Information Technology (IT) sector and 25 per cent students got placement in this sector. Ten per cent students opted for management services while eight per cent students were placed in Analytics, four per cent in consulting services and three per cent in other jobs.

Programme-wise the B Tech students received 41.5 per cent placement, 39.9 per cent M Tech students , 7.3 per cent M BA, 5.4 per cent dual course, 3.2 per cent M Sc five years course and 2.7 per cent M Sc two years course got good placement offers at the reputed companies.

Dr Tare said that most of the students of M Sc and dual courses preferred higher studies abroad or to take up research projects than opting for jobs. They never appeared at the campus interviews despite demands by the companies.

Similarly students doing course in Biological Science ad Bio Engineering (BSBE) did not go for jobs After completing the course they got lucrative offers from companies abroad. This was the reason that out of five BSBE students only one student appeared at the campus interview and was selected. In laser technology there was only one student but he did not face the campus interview. The companies who came late for the campus interview failed to get students as hardly any students was left un-placed after the campus interview , said Dr Tare.
