Suchitra’s solo performance ‘Sita Swayamvar’ was colourful and impeccably presented. This was a part of the two-day Pandit Nand Kishore Sharma Memorial music function organised on the occasion of 44th anniversary of Abhinav Kala Parishad.
A leading exponent of Raigarh Gharana of Kathak, Suchitra is a disciple of late Pt Kartikramji and his son Pt Ramlalji. She has a troupe named ‘ Kartik’, which has given several performances.
The other performances namely ‘ Ram Stuti’, ‘Holi’, ‘ Shiv Kalyan’ and ‘ Mangal Aradhana’ were an effective blend of classical and contemporary ideas with beautiful compositions.
Each presentation was unique, rich in lyrics and synergised body movements. Smita Vajpayee (sitar), Sangeeta Agnihotri (tabla), Latif Khan (sarangi), Hemangi Bhagat (harmonium) gave the perfect musical compositions for the artistic movements.
