Sultry weather a challenge for zoo
SULTRY WEATHER conditions have posed a big challenge before the zoo authorities while keeping all the inmates in good health. Despite bad weather all the animals in the zoo are said to be in a healthy state.

According to the authorities during very humid atmospheric conditions the big animals and birds felt very uneasy and uncomfortable. But there was no solution to this problem.
The authorities said the inmates could be provided respite from the very dry spells of heat by putting up khus-curtains around the enclosures and filling the moats of the big animals with fresh water to maintain a cool environment.But there was no technique to reduce the humidity in the air to provide respite to the birds or the other animals.
The only assistance extended to the inmates was to supply them adequate quantity of minerals and vitamins to recover the mineral loss from their body due to excessive humidity. Besides the inmates were served easily digestible nourishing foods in little quantity to avoid digestion problems.
The animal keepers told HT that during sultry weather the animals did not come out of the shaded areas to greet the visitors. The number of visitors during this weather often goes down and the visitors who come to enjoy the tricks of the animals get disappointed to see animals resting in peace in the covered areas inside their enclosures.
