Unprecedented number of people, from far and wide, bid tearful adieu to late former chief minister Bhajan Lal in Adampur on Saturday.
Governor of Haryana Jagannath Paharia, chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and several state ministers laid wreaths at the mortal remains of the departed leader. Leader of INLD including OP Chautala and former minister Subhash Goyal, BJP leaders Ram Bilas Sharma, Capt Abhimanyu, former minister Ganeshi Lal paid homage to the late stalwart.
Congress leader and incharge of Haryana VK Hariprasad brought condolence message of Sonia Gandhi. Elder son Chander Mohan and younger son Kuldip Bishnoi performed the burial rituals.
One could see large number of men and women weeping loudly and raising slogans, "jab tak suraj chand rahega, Bhajan lal tera naam rahega. The crying crowd depicted that the late leader ruled at the hearts of the people.
Earlier Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal while paying tributes said,"he was a great leader of north India. We have lost a mature and veteran politician." Union Minister Km. Selja shared grief of Jasma Devi, wife of Bhajan Lal.
The family of Bhajan Lal will set upn a memorial at the burial site on a land of about four acres.
Among others who were present included Randeep Surjewala, Sampat Singh, Phool Chand Moolana, Vinod Sharma, Satpal Sangwan, Rao Narendar Singh, Ranbir Mohindra, Chhattarpal, Ram Niwas Ghorela, Naresh Selpar, Shadi Lal Batra etc.
