Bhutan's 26-year-old crown prince, with his movie star looks, has become the latest heartthrob of women in Thailand after attending celebrations honouring the Thai king's 60th anniversary on the throne.

Crown Prince Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck has appeared almost daily in local media, which dubbed him "Prince Charming."

"He is smart, modest and polite, and most importantly he is very good-looking," Nattinee Bunsompoppun, a 32-year-old government official, told the agency.

His personal weekend trip to Thailand's holiday isle of Phuket was closely followed by Thai media and the Bangkok Post said on Monday the prince "won hearts with grace, good manners."

Thailand's popular website Pantip has been flooded with messages asking how to travel to Bhutan, which lies nestled in the Himalayas between India and China and has a population of just around 600,000.

"Bhutan is my favourite place to visit" because of the prince, one female fan wrote.

The young prince was among royal guests from 25 nations for last week's celebrations honouring King Bhumibol Adulyadej's 60th year on the throne.

A Bhutanese embassy official said the prince would return home later this week.
