Each college management has the privilege to admit a certain number of students granting them relaxation in marks. The college management has the discretion to admit even a third-division student on the seats allotted to it. But in order to get the benefit of these seats, candidates are supposed to take admission forms from the colleges within the specified period.

However, a large number of students ignorant of the rule did not obtain admission forms from the colleges, where they preferred admission against the management seat.

Now the sale of admission forms has been closed at all colleges, as per directives of the University. The only option left with admission seekers is to either contact the college principal directly or the manager of the college for the form and also for admission. But in the absence of direct contact with the principals or managers, unscrupulous agents charge huge amounts from admission seekers and disappear. Now one can expect to see them only in the next admission season.

College managements and the local police seems to be helpless in containing such cases as none of the duped candidates ever report the matter either to police or to the college authorities. These unscrupulous persons could be spotted especially near girls’ colleges.

Rita, Surabhi, Shalini and several other girl students told HT that “Our parents did not allow us to go to co-education colleges. We are not very affluent and we could not have applied in more than one college. Now for admission against the management seat, we should have forms of the college, which we do not have. Though some agents demanded extra money for getting us admitted to any of the girl colleges but we refused, as our parents would not like to take any risk.”

Similarly, Mahesh, Anirudha and Ashoka wanted admission in DAV or VSSD College against management seats but in the absence of admission forms their request for admission was turned down by college authorities. According to college principals, as per university rules, they cannot allow issuing admission forms after the admissions.
