This year, a large police force would be deployed at the complex. The entire red zone of the complex would be barricaded to check lakhs of devotees thronging the complex to worship Lord Shiva in the ancient Kashi Vishwanath temple, he said.

He was reviewing the security arrangements of the Kashi Vishwanath temple and Gyanwapi mosque during a high-level meeting in Circuit House on Friday.

Bhatia said all necessary security measures were being ensured to counter any suicidal terrorist attack on the complex.

He further said jawans of the Quick Reaction Force and commandos of the Central security forces would be deployed at sensitive points of the complex.

Speaking on the security arrangements in Ayodhya, he said permanent construction had started there and such work would be initiated in Varanasi soon. He said extra security arrangements were always made in and around the Gyanwapi complex in the wake of protests by some Hindu organisations. But, this time, security measures were being taken in wake of the terrorist strike.

IG for PAC Shailja Kant Mishra, IG, Varanasi, KL Meena, SSP Navniet Sekera and DM Nitin Ramesh Gokarn attended the meeting.
