Twenty-four-year-old Reema Bhardwaj, a resident of the Arthala area of Ghaziabad, died at district MMG women's hospital on Friday.

Her husband and family alleged that she was denied admission into the hospital even though her condition was deteriorating on Thursday evening.

"Her haemoglobin level had drastically fallen and she was also in labour. Her legs had also swollen up. I took her to the hospital around 4.30 pm on Thursday but the doctors denied her admission, saying she would stabilise," said Shrawan Bhardwaj, victim's husband.

Family members said her condition deteriorated around 2.30am on Friday and she was rushed to hospital, where she was admitted around 6.45 am.

The victim died of complications around 12.45pm. The death happened before the baby could be delivered.

Sub-divisional magistrate Mahendra Prasad, who came for an initial inquiry into the alleged incident, said, "We have ordered an inquiry into the incident with the help of a panel of medical experts. A postmortem examination would also be conducted to find out the exact cause of death."
