Turkey has opened its airspace to US military aircraft as war rages in neighbouring Iraq, local television channels said on Friday.

Turkey has opened its airspace to US military aircraft as war rages in neighbouring Iraq, local television channels said on Friday.
Washington will hope the decision by its close NATO ally will ease pressure on a main invasion force pressing up from the south. It will enable US warplanes to cross Turkish territory for operations in northern Iraq.
