India's boxing challenge at the Commonwealth Games continued to look promising as two boxers moved into the quarterfinals on Sunday and with at least five more in the pre-quarterfinals, the team can look forward to a good haul.

The most impressive and convincing Indian boxer was V Johnson who came on in the last bout involving an Indian.

He outclassed Kenyan Fredrick Oracho in the 91 kg category and forced the referee to stop the contest in the first round itself.

Jitender also impressed while dispatching Seychelles' Andy Gabriel 25-11 on points in the 69 kg class and then Ajay Kumar beat Mokai Paraha of Tonga also on points 22-16 in the 81 kg category.

However, it was not all positive results for India as S Maybengam went down to John Langley of England in the in 48 kg pre-quarterfinals 12-20 on points.
