Two policemen injured in militant attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag
Two policemen, including an officer, were injured on Thursday when militants attacked a police party in Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
Two policemen, including an officer, were injured on Thursday when militants attacked a police party in Bijbehara area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.
An official spokesperson confirmed the incident, saying the party was fired upon near the sub-district hospital in Bijbehara.
The officer, who sustained injuries in the attack, has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Rather, a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO). A Special Police Officer was also injured in the attack.
According to reports, Rather has taken many bullets and his condition is said to be critical.
Both the policemen have been shifted to Srinagar for treatment. Police and the CRPF have cordoned off the area and a search operation to nab the militants is on.
