Sources in the Home Ministry said the operation was launched after ULFA militants carried out a blast near the Northeast Frontier Railways headquarters at Maligaon in which four others were critically injured.
This was the second blast in the state since the New Year's day when five persons were killed and at least 50 injured in three serial explosions in the city.
