The Congress-led UDF opposition in Kerala Assembly on Monday staged a walkout alleging massive irregularities in last Saturday's election to the board of a co-operative society in Kannur district.
Replying to an adjournment motion notice, Co-operation Minister G Sudhakaran said though registrar of co-operatives had not received any complaint of malpractices during the poll to the Eruvessi Service Co-operative Society, the government was ready to order a probe.
Raising the matter, K Sudhakaran (Cong) accused the CPI(M)-led LDF government of capturing the administration of the society from the UDF by "intimidating the voters and through malpractice".
Denying the charge, Sudhakaran said voters were allowed to vote only after verifying the identity cards issued to them.
Speaker K Radhakrishnan disallowed the adjournment motion after the minister's reply.
Before the walkout, Opposition leader Oommen Chandy said that due to intimidation by CPI(M) workers, only 14.7 per cent voting was reported and remaining voters kept away.
