Undertrial guns down cop on court premises
AN UNDERTRIAL shot dead a police constable on the district court premises in neighbouring Kaushambi on Saturday. The undertrial, identified as Kanhai Lal alias Raja Bhaiyya, fled from the scene with a rifle after shooting constable Umesh Rai . He used his brother?s rifle to commit the crime. Kanhai Lal was reportedly jailed on the charges of murdering BSP leader Ram Vishal Pal, resident of Dhumanganj area in Allahabad city, some time ago.

The undertrial, identified as Kanhai Lal alias Raja Bhaiyya, fled from the scene with a rifle after shooting constable Umesh Rai.
He used his brother’s rifle to commit the crime. Kanhai Lal was reportedly jailed on the charges of murdering BSP leader Ram Vishal Pal, resident of Dhumanganj area in Allahabad city, some time ago.
The constable had brought him to the court where he was to be produced before a magistrate.
After registering his presence in the court, the accused, along with the constable, went to a tea stall on the premises. Meanwhile, Kanhai’s brother, who had been released on bail in the same case, appeared on the scene and gave him a rifle. Kanhai shot the constable at point-blank range . Both brothers escaped from the scene after the murder.
Fire in marriage pandal
A MARRIAGE pandal on Tashkant Marg caught fire this evening sending people scurrying for cover.
The fire was so swift that the pandal was reduced to ashes within minutes. A heavy loss was reported to have been incurred by the owner. There were no immediate reports of injury to any of the people who had assembled there. A fire tender had reached the spot at the time of filing the report.
