The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) here has decided to establish Amrita Pritam Museum to preserve the personal belongings, library books, manuscripts, rare books, photographs and paintings of the renowned Punjabi poetess.

It also decided to bestow a Life Fellowship on a noted painter Imroz for his contribution to the Punjabi literature and art.
Stating this here yesterday, GNDU Vice-Chancellor Dr S P Singh said the noted painter Imroz had contacted the University authorities to donate the articles belongibng to Amrita Pritam to the University.
The University Syndicate had already given its concurrence to this proposal, he added.
The Vice-Chancellor said it was a matter of pride for the University to have these rare and invaluable belongings of a popular celebrated Punjabi poetess.
In addition, the University would also organise a national level seminar on her contribution to the Punjabi literature. He further informed that the University also decided to institute "Amrita Pritam Memorial Lecture" which would be arranged every year.
