"The prospective NRI investors can get investment-related information easily and quickly from the cell," official sources said in Lucknow on Tuesday.

They said such cells already existed in the Industrial Development Departments of several states of the country and they had been helpful in attracting NRI investments.

An independent cell would also ensure speedy disposal of the NRIs' applications and redressal of their problems.

There was also a plan to encourage the NRIs from this part of the country to help in social work in their villages, towns and cities, the sources added.
