While Hamza, a class 3 student, was discharged after treatment for 10-12% burn wounds, Paria, a class 4 student, is still being treated for the 22% burn wounds at a hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested the accused, Noor Khan, and filed an FIR against him.

Eyewitnesses said Hamza and Paria, both students at Aligarh Public School, were returning home around noon on Saturday. While passing through Usmanpara locality, the kids teased Khan who was alone at his home. In a fit of rage, he threw acid at them.

Passersby immediately caught hold of Khan and rushed the children to the district hospital. They later handed over Khan to the police.

The police told reporters Khan was probably suffering from some mental ailment and habitual teasing by local children had left him irritable and agitated.
