According to Baru’s book, Congress president Sonia Gandhi “remote controlled” the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Singh played “second fiddle” to her.
Addressing a rally in this Karnataka district, Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial nominee, claimed the UPA would not be able to open its account in several states and end up with single digit in many others.
“I ask you all people what type of government do you want in India? Do you want a government in Delhi, a lame government? Do you want a dumb government? Do you want remote-controlled government? Do you want a government which is lying dead in a hospital?” Modi asked the gathering.
"Do you want a government which divides the country. Do you want a government which breaks promises? Do you want a government which destroys the future of the country's youth?” he added.
Union minister M Veerappa Moily is pitted against former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, son of former PM HD Deve Gowda, from Chikkaballapur. Former minister Bacche Gowda is the BJP candidate.
