Martin, 42, was undergoing a security check at the airport around 2AM when the Central Industrial Security Force found a live bullet belonging to a handgun in his possession. Martin was then handed over to the Sahar police.
After they were alerted of the cartridge, the Sahar police registered a case against Martin under sections 5 (license for arms and ammunition) and 25 (punishment for certain offences of the Indian Arms Act). Martin was subsequently placed under arrest.
During questioning, Martin told police he was not aware that it was unlawful to carry ammunition while boarding a flight in India. He was produced before a metropolitan court that remanded him to a one day police custody.
