The items were to be gifted to a girl on her marriage.

“The marriage is scheduled for tomorrow. A pre-marriage function was going on in the hotel when my relative, Ashok, arrived. He had directly come to the venue with jewellery, cash, etc,” said AP Sharma, the bride’s father.

“When Ashok went outside, he saw the windowpane of his car broken and the items stolen,” he said. “The items were worth over R10 lakh," he said. “A case has been filed,” said Hari Singh, in charge police post NH2.
