VANDE MATARAM, a portrait exhibition of martyrs of Indian freedom struggle, will get underway at Swaraj Bhavan here from May 10.

Minister of State for Culture Laxmikant Sharma will inaugurate the exhibition. The exhibition has been planned to mark the beginning of 150th year of 1857’s first freedom movement.
During inaugural function, artistes, who have won the first, second and third prizes of Vande Mataram portrait-making competition organised by Swaraj Sanstha Directorate, will also be given prizes by the Minister.
Manish Gupta of Gwalior will receive the first prize of Rs 31,000 for his portrait of Shiv Sharma. Bhopal’s Veena Jain will receive second prize of Rs 21,000 for her portrait of Arvind Ghosh while Anshuman Sengupta of Kolkata will be given third prize of 11,000 for his portrait of Bhagat Singh.
Portraits of martyrs prepared by 85 artistes from across the country will be displayed in the exhibition. The exhibition will remain open from May 11 to 19 between 11.00 am to 6.00 pm at Swaraj Bhavan in Ravindra Bhavan campus.
