Q My friends and I will be visiting Bangalore for a week. We also plan to visit Mysore later. Do we need to make any changes? Can you also suggest what I can see in these two places?
AYou can stay two days each at Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty. You’ll have a lot to do in Ooty and Mysore. Bangalore has three to four good places. But you can go around the city, enjoy the weather and do some shopping in different city malls. Remember this is an off-season in Ooty and you will get good accommodation at economical rates.
Q I wish to visit Ladakh in July and plan to go from Srinagar by taxi. What will be the taxi charge and how much time will it take? What will be the climate like during July?
A Well, as far as the cost is concerned, a taxi like Scorpio/Xylo/Innova should cost you R20 per km (approx rates), though there will be additional charges for the night halt/full day. The weather around this time is the best. You will need jackets and pullovers in the mornings and evenings, if you are just travelling till Leh. The journey takes about a day from Srinagar to Kargil and another day till Leh. There are more places to visit around.
Q Please suggest a good beach destination. How do I reach there from Delhi?
A I suggest Gokarna, which is a small holy town with four of India’s most secluded beaches nestled nearby. Though there is no airport in Gokarna, the nearest airport is Dabolim in Goa, which is located four hours by road from Gokarna. There’s a station in Gokarna which is 15 min from the town.
