Voters favour independent candidates

The independent candidates ensured their victory on the posts of chairman in Jaunpur, Aamgarh, Ballia, Mubarakpur and Jamania Nagar Palika Parishads.
As per the break-up of independent candidates, in Jaunpur Nagar Palika Parishad election, BSP supported independent candidate Dinesh Tandon won the chairman’s election by defeating his nearest rival Shaym Mohan Gupta, a BJP candidate by a margin of 1,099 votes. In Azmgarh Palika Parishad, independent candidate Girish Chandra Srivastva has been elected as Chairman of Azamgarh Nagar Palika Parishad. He defeated his nearest rival, SP’s Wasiuddin by a margin of 4,252 votes
In Ballia, independent candidate Sanjay Upadhyay won the election for Palika Parishad Chairman’s post by defeating his nearest rival SPs Laxman Gupta by a margin of 1,343 votes. Besides, two independent candidates won the election of Chairman from Mubarakpur and Jamania Palika Parishad.
The independent candidates also ensured their victories in 21 Nagar Panchayat elections out of 50 Nagar Panchayats. Those Nagar Panchayats of various districts of eastern UP where the independent candidates ensured victories are Adari, Ghosi, Amila, Obra, Dundhi, Pipari, Kamariya, Phoolpur, Baliyaranj, Niamabad, Saraimir, Maharajganj, Mehnagar, Chandauli, Jangipur, Dildarnagar, Reoti, Sahatwar, Maniyar, Bilthararoad and Chitbadagon.
Contrary to the victory of independent candidates to the post of Chairman in Nagar Palika Parishad, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has settled for four seats of Nagar Palika Parishad Chairman in Mungrapur Badshahpur, Shahganj, Ghazipur and Rasra.
Similarly, the Samajwadi Party secured six seats of chairmen in Robertsganj, Mandiyahu, Mau, Bhadohi, Mughalsarai and Mohamdabad whereas Congress candidates won two seats of chairmen in the Ramnagar and Mirzapur Nagar Palika Parishads. One Candidate of RLD also ensured her victory in Machhalishar.
In the Nagar Panchayat election, political parties shared 21 seats of chairmen in different Nagar Panchayat elections.
The SP and BJP managed to get 10 seats each in different Nagar Panchayats whereas the Congress candidates won six seats of Nagar Panchayats.
