There is more to our lives than poll pundits would allow us
Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi is right in saying that exit polls and panel discussions should be telecast on entertainment channels by TV broadcasters (Exit polls best left to entertainment channels: CEC, March 5). The non-stop coverage of election results that news channels have come up with seems to presume that viewers have no other work, except going through the endless mechanics of government formation in each of these states.

Pave the way to protect heritage
With reference to Ramachandra Guha's article The Moodbidri tales (History Matters, March 2), I recently paid a visit to this place and was amazed by the stunning architecture of the structures located there. It is the responsibility of both Karnataka's tourism department and the National Highway Authority of India to ensure these temples survive for posterity.

Putting too fine a point on it
With reference to the report Lose the phone, bottle the drink… new regime ahead (March 2), high rates of fines for traffic violations only encourage bribery, with the State exchequer being the ultimate loser. Educating people about traffic rules will have a greater and more lasting impact in bringing order to our roads.
